THE THEME OF HOPE: 1
PETER
by
1.
VS 1:3
We have a “living hope” through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead
2.
VS 1:4
The hope we have involves an “inheritance”
3.
VS 1:4
The hope we have is “imperishable,” “undefiled”, and “will not fade
away”
4.
VS 1:4
The hope that we have is reserved for us “in heaven”
5.
VS 1:5
God’s power “protects us” through our faith for salvation
6.
VS 1:5
The hope of our salvation is ready to be revealed “in the last time”
7.
VS 1:6
We can “greatly rejoice” in our hope even though we may currently be
going through trials
8.
VS 1:7
Our hope is encouraged because testing of our faith will eventually
result in praise, glory and honor
9.
VS 1:8
That fact that we can’t see Jesus now doesn’t keep us from “joy
inexpressible” because we believe
10. VS 1:9 The “outcome” of our
faith is the “salvation of our souls”
11. VS 1:13 We are to “fix” our
hope “completely” on the grace to be brought to us when we meet the Lord
12. VS 1:21 Through Christ we
are “believers in God” who raised Him from the dead (our hope is in God)
13. VS 1:21 The seed (Word of
God) through which we have been born again is “living and abiding”
14. VS 3:15 We are always to be
ready to ‘make a defense’ for that hope which we have in Christ
15. VS 4:13 If we will keep on
rejoicing in the midst of our suffering for Christ, we know that we will also
rejoice with exaltation at the revelation of His glory
16. VS 4:19 If we suffer for
doing right, we can entrust our lives to God since we know that He will always
do what is right for us (in our lives)
17. VS 5:1 We are assured that
we will be partakers of the glory to be revealed
18. VS 5:4 The one who is a
faithful shepherd over the sheep is assured to receive the unfading crown of
glory when the Chief Shepherd appears
19. VS 5:5 God gives grace to
the humble
20. VS 5:6 If we will humble
ourselves under the mighty hand of God, He will exalt us at the proper time
21. VS 5:7 We can cast all of
our cares upon the Lord because we are assured that He cares for us
22. VS 5:10 After we have had to
suffer for awhile, the Lord assures us that He will perfect, confirm,
strengthen, and establish us
23. VS 5:10 We have been called
to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus
